Peacock Throne of Aurangzeb Now at Golden Temple

Peacock Throne of Aurangzeb now at Golden Temple.

Painting of the Peacock Throne around 1850.

The Peacock Throne was a famous jewelled throne that was the seat of the Mughal emperors in India.

On 11 March 1783 the combined army of Baghel Singh with Jassa Singh Ahluwalia and Jassa Singh Ramgarhia defeated the Mughal army and captured Delhi. Sardar Jassa Singh Ramgarhia captured the Red Fort of Delhi in conjunction with Sardar Baghel Singh.

HE DETACHED THE THRONE OF MUGHAL EMPEROR AURANGZEB AND BROUGHT IT ON ELEPHANTS AND KEPT IT AT GOLDEN TEMPLE, AMRITSAR.

Even today it is present at the Golden Temple known as Ramgarhia Bunga.
