COWS & SPIRITUALITY

Image
Kingdom of God:   Various religions of the world mention about the “kingdom of God”. Vedic texts give elaborate descriptions of It. Scriptures like Bhagwad Geeta, Bhagwad Puran, Garg Samhita and Brahma Samhita are some of them. In the spiritual realm, the Lord is engaged in herding the spiritual cows, as stated in the Hindu scriptures: cintamani-prakara-sadmasu kalpavriksha- lakshavrteshu surabhir abhipaalayantam lakshmi-sahasra-sata-sambhrama-sevyamanam govindam aadi-purusham tam aham bhajami [Brahma-samhita] “Lord Krishna is situated in a spiritual abode made of transcendental gems. Cows & The Imperialistic Strategies of the British

So he decided, to break the backbone of agriculture in India – the holy cows have to be targeted. And thus was opened the first slaughterhouse of cows in India in 1760 by Robert Clive at Kolkata. It had a capacity to kill 30,000 cows per day.  And anyone can gues...

COW PROTECTION (go-raksha)

Image
Go-Raksha From Bhagvad Gita & Bhagwad Puran In Bhagavad-gita Krsna instructs that the economic basis for a spiritual society should be ‘ krsi-go-raksya-vanijyam’  -- farming, cow protection, and trade are the primary functions of  Vaishyas. We are all creatures of material nature. In the Bhagavad-gita it is said that the Lord Himself is the seed-giving father and material nature is the mother of all living beings in all shapes. Thus mother material nature has enough foodstuffs both for animals and for men, by the grace of the Father Almighty, Sri Krsna. The human being is the elder brother of all other living beings. He is endowed with intelligence more powerful than animals for realizing the course of nature and the indications of the Almighty Father. Human civilizations should depend on the production of material nature without artificially attempting economic development to turn the world into a chaos of artificial greed and power only for the purpose of art...
